SKELETOOL... please someone clear this up for me... am I nuts or do like 4 different versions and prices come up... which one is "The" Skeletool that everyone likes?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=as_li_qf_sp_sr_il_tl?ie=UTF8&keywords=leatherman%20skeletool&tag=shaofbab-20&index=aps&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325

There are only TWO Skeletools - the Skeletool and the Skeletool CX. The Skeletool CX has a carbon fiber handle and a straight edge blade. The Skeletool (the one I have) is all stainless and sports a 50/50 combo edge blade.

All the different numbers are whether it comes in a black and yellow box, a plastic blister package or a collector's tin. If you will call Leatherman at 1-800-847-8665 and tell them which one you want, you can then go to Amazon and type in that six digit code and get the proper one.

I found this, but it says the 830845 model doesn't come with a sheath, but mine did.

Skeletool (Standard) - manufactured with a combo blade after mid '09
830845: 420HC No sheath, box packaging
830846: 420HC No sheath, Clam packaging
830847: 420HC No sheath, Gift Tin packaging
830865: 420HC Nylon sheath, Gift Tin packaging
830948: 420HC Nylon sheath, Box packaging

Skeletool CX - manufactured with a straight blade after mid '09
830849: 154CM No sheath, box packaging
830850: 154CM No sheath, Clam packaging
830851: 154CM No sheath, Gift Tin packaging
830866: 154CM Nylon Sheath, Gift Tin packaging
830950: 154CM Nylon Sheath, box packaging

And I THINK.. if I'm looking at it right, the cheaper one, the one you have I believe, is <5oz while the other is >7oz. Sounds measly, but it matters to me! I carry my 3.0oz Manix 2 much more than some of my similarly sized 4.X oz knives, just because it makes it hard to even notice in my pocket! I'll go with the cheaper and lighter skeletool, as I believe you also have!

According to Leatherman's website, the Skeletool and the Skeletool CX both weigh in at 5 ounces.

I dunno. I never know mine is even there. :ugh2:

Well crap. I've been wanting a 0551 for a while now, and despite having just ordered a Wicked Edge Pro kit (and being broke), I just fell prey to this guy (it's one of the later models with the laser-cut lock-bar):
