I say let welcome the help; maybe it will also help Americans see that the Iranian people that so many want to turn to a nuclear ash cloud aren't the debils the Israel-firsters want you to believe.

Iranian aid workers are ready to fly from Tehran to New York City to provide assistance to those affected by Hurricane Sandy, semi-official Fars News Agency reported on Wednesday.

"Iran's Red Crescent is prepared to help the victims in the US," Mahmud Mozaffar, The Head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society's Relief and Rescue Organization, told Fars News Agency.

Mozaffar stressed the preparedness of Iran's Red Crescent, stating: "Given its ample experience in rescuing storms and floods victims, Iran's Red Crescent can provide relief assistance for those affected in New York," Fars quoted him as saying.

According to Fars, Mozaffar added that the society would dispatch its aid and rescue teams, as well as equipments to US cities in need once US officials accept Iran’s offer of assistance.

Yeah, I'm sure a certain ones from Iran would like a free trip to New York City.

It's kind of suspicous how they didn't mention "helping" anywhere else.

I'll chime in, just to offer what will inevitably be yet another "against the grain" opinion.

Iran is not a country full of terrible people that hate America because we have freedom. It is a country full of peaceful people, that happen to gave controversial leaders. Iran's effort for nuclear weapons is just like any other countries plight for an ultimate weapon.

Do you really think we would play nice allies with Pakistan had they not had nuclear weapons???

Iran will soon become an ally in the region as they develope a weapon. They won't be bombing Israel is we're steered to believe. Iran just wants to be taken as seriously as any other country.

The majority of the Iranian people would fall over dead without their American cultural stuff (remember when Russia was evil - yet they were addicted to our 10-year old TV shows and Pepsi-Cola?).

This reminds me of a story a friend of mine tells about his trip to the Holy Lands once... they were all going around doing the tour thing and visiting different sites and such, when one day they were like really out there somewhere in the middle of nowhere checking out some relics or something.

They noticed a typical Bedouin type tent up on the hill in the middle of some sand dunes and one guy thought he'd go check it out. After hiking a ways up there and catching his breath, he went toward the tent, brimming over with excitement about the prospects of finding some real treasure of Middle Eastern culture.

Imagine his dismay when he pulled back the tent flaps and found two Arabs sitting in lawn chairs with a Honda generator and a color TV watching Dukes of Hazzard reruns.

Uncle Jesse can bring sworn enemies together. If only he were alive today, the world wouldn't be in nearly as much turmoil.

My thoughts exactly. Americans are hated elsewhere not because of our freedom, but the foreign policy of our "leadership", that - like it or not - really isn't within our control, no matter how much our 3rd grade propaganda has spun it for decades. Not to mention similar brainwashing being committed on their end. Too many governments teaching their people to hate each other for no good reason other than geopolitical gain.

And "Israel firster"? An American that puts the interests of Israel before the interests of the United States. Our government (and populace) is filled to the gills with 'em. The whole attack Iran controversy is a perfect example.
