I was at 149th & May about 2 minutes after it went thru. We were able to clear all but one house/rubble pile. I saw some minor injuries, but no fatalities, unless they were in the one home we couldn't get any response from.

I dug an elderly couple and their 18 yo cat out of their inground garage shelter. They were without a scratch.

The livestock in the area was hit extremely hard. I'm a horse guy, and some of the things I saw this afternoon will stay with me until I take my last breath.

Good on you, Jakeman.

the Orr's are family friends of ours, and from the sounds of it, they lost everything, as well as most of their horses.

yes, very sad scene there. steve orr and i are fraternity brothers. spent some time at the farm back in the day. some of the horse scenes are frightening.

There were two schools hit: Briarwood Elementary and Plaza Towers Elementary. The students at Briarwood were accounted for; the major death toll was at Plaza Towers.

Kelly Ogle just reported that his law enforcement sources are saying the current death toll is 51, and he's praying that his source is wrong. :(

that was a lot of dead horses :( 80ish right?

I lost count. I had a corriente struggle to his feet and make a run at me on a broken leg. It stood up from in between two other dead steers. I just stuck my hand out to stop him, and he went back down. I made a rope halter out of a piece of spare rope I found, and was able to coax a horribly injured horse out of the road so when he finally went down he wouldn't block traffic.

I did talk to one guy that walked in to where his barn had been. He said he had 10 roping horses in it, and it was gone.

What a horrible, horrible day for my home state. My heart is broken.

It was awful out there. Just awful.

After we cleared all the houses the police started down thru there putting animals down. That was when I left.

This thing just happened so fast. I think we'll be lucky if the death toll doesn't reach 100. The loss of life at the schools is just horribly tragic.
