I recently acquired a Ruger LC-9 in a trade with a range buddy here on OSA and took it to H&H today to see if it's a keeper or not. My impressions: It shoots better than the Kahr P9/CW9 pistols I've had and a lot better than the steekin' PM9/CM9's. I had no failures of any kind with a mix of FMJ and JHP rounds. I was really happy to not suffer the dreaded magazine nose dives like I did when I tried to love the Kahr line...and it was nice to be able to just slingshot the slide. Accurate? About as much as a J-Frame to me; acceptable accuracy shall we say; but I had a hard time with the front sight today; I got oldasseyesightitis. Probably should take my bifocals in for an oil change about now I suppose. Anyway; the little gun's trigger wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. Long; yes...but not creepy or rough; least so, not to me. I was able to hold on target pretty well and keep all shots COM anyways. This is no target pistol, but I feel okay with it as a close-in self defense piece; which I am pretty sure is it's designed role. I didn't care for the S&W Shield I tried on awhile back; Kahr sux(imo) I couldn't hit the floor with an LCP unless it fell out of my pocket but this LC-9 is a lil different. I can actually say it's not half bad for a subcompact 9mm pistol and despite what you may have read or been told to say, the trigger isn't the demon it's been said it is and overall, I think the Ruger LC-9 is a fine little subcompact. Mine has 3 mags and came with a Crossbreed Mini-Tuck; I think I got a heck of a deal! I'm just not sure if it's going to stay or get offered up in trade.:screwy:

I'm glad you like it. My impressions of it were pretty much the exact opposite of yours! :D Seriously ... While you are correct, that the trigger is not creepy or rough, it is long as a hard day's work and when I had it by the time a shot fired off I was already bored and looking for something else to do! :D

Between it and the Shield, I much preferred the Shield ... trigger was crisp and sharp ... And not nearly as long.

We probably shouldn't go car shopping together either, huh?? LOL :wink2:

LOL! You know, the biggest thing I found with the Shield, and I'm sure it's my big mitts and not the pistol, is the thing felt like it was gonna squirt up outta my hand every time I fired a shot. I never felt like I had a good grip on it. With the LC-9, I don't even need the mag extensions; it has such a soft recoil, I had no trouble controlling the gun. The Shield is a nicer looking pistol than the LC-9 but neither one is going to win a beauty contest. The LC-9 was more "shootable" overall...for me. Some might prefer the Shield; some might prefer the Kahr, :screwy: some might like the Nano. Some might even wanna stick with a Kel-Tec. Guess that's why we have choices. Me; I really just oughta stick to a J-Frame for my small gun needs. I like dressing a J up with different grips and such; something that can't be done with these little semi's. I may just keep the LC-9, then again, I may trade 'er off. I'm still undecided on it. One thing for sure; the darn thing is almost unnoticeable in that Crossbreed holster. It is absolutely the easiest to wear 9mm pistol/holster combo I have ever had on me old hip. And I agree on no car-shopping! :nono1:

When I had it the trigger pinched my finger every time I squeezed of a shot.I like the kahr twice as good and the shield three times as good and still looking for something better

Yeah but you got little bitty teeny tiny girly-man fingers.

The trigger on the LC9 is an issue for me. I agree the trigger is pretty smooth and not too heavy and the pistol can be shot accurately on the range. What I could not do with the LC9 was shoot a decent rapid fire group no matter how much I practiced, the reset is just too long. The S&W Shield is a much better choice for me though I do agree with what some one above said about the grip on the Shield. I put a Pachmayr tactical grip on mine and the feel is great now.

I couldn't wait to get a LC9. Long trigger pull and reset on trigger, so I sold it.

I do like most of the other Rugers .

Well, so far, I seem to be the only one here who kinda likes the little LC-9...fine; that's just fine. See if I care.:tounge:
