Just got out of a meeting with HR, so I'm in a pissy mood.

A man who has a wife who *wants* a gun and doesn't get it for her (so long as it is financially possible) isn't thinking straight. How many wives hate guns, and are married to men who would *love* for them to at least show a passing interest in his hobby?

Go buy her one. Now. At worst she hates it, decides she wants something else, and you get a new gun. Medium case she likes it, but realizes she needs/wants something different for carry, in which case you get 2 new guns. Best case she loves the gun, carries it everywhere, and is proficient with it. Either way you get more guns and she is happy because she got to pick out her gun.

The heart wants what the heart wants. Give it a shot, she might like it. Obviously, there are more concealable options, but not many that offer the Judge's versatility. If she doesn't like it, you've got a great HD/Range/OC wheelgun. It's a win-win!

This. GC let me pick out my first gun. I'd shot everything he owned and he really really really wanted me to like Glock, but I just didn't ... I was a new shooter and it didn't feel right in my hands ... I don't own the original gun I bought anymore. Not that I ever really hated it, but the more I shot (and I shot a lot more after I picked out my first gun than I did before I had one I could call my own) the better I got ... and the better I got, the more comfortable I was shooting other guns ...

Now my absolute favorite gun in the world is my Colt Gold Cup ... ... followed closely by any and every Glock I can get my hands on ... :naughty:

I really wouldn't consider it but I mean it's better to have something than nothing right?
I guess it's good as long as you have the good handgun defensive ammo.
Federal makes some good quality 410 handgun rounds, I've shot them out of my dad's "Snake Charmer" single-shot shot gun (even though it clearly has a longer barrel) it does a darn good job!

Better than nothing, I would just watch the quality of the firearm, how she shoots/carries with it...at the first sign of the gun being crap, replace. At some point she might move to another wheel gun meant more for CCW and the judge moves to house duty.

Have your wife do some reading over here: http://www.corneredcat.com/

As far as Judge goes: fun to shoot and it sure looks cool in movies. (I still would rate it "better than nothing" though).

I am sure that it would get the job done ballistically, but from the one that I have held and played with it, it seems like that there would be better options for CCW. How is she planning on carrying this pistol?

I can think of fifty firearms that I feel would be much better for concealed carry, nightstand, truck gun etc. - but if my wife wanted a Taurus Judge I would make it happen.

Happy wife- happy life!
