45acp because its going to make a bigger hole for the BG to bleed out of quicker. This is real life not the movies. "Knockdown" and "Stopping Power" are nothing but marketing terms. A bad guy getting shot isn't going to go flying backwards. Most of the time he won't even know he is hit so thats why I carry the big fat 45. As many big holes as I can put in him and hope luck is on my side.
If you had a 10mm, he'd bleed out the front and the back.

I stay with .380acp,9mm,.38spl.,.357 mag,.45acp,.223/5.56,300 Whisper , and .308/7.62 because that what I reload. These will cover anything I need a gun for except the .22 rimfire I buy.

I like .40 because the ammo is cheap and plentiful delivered to my door for high quality ammo. I carry .40 as well because I can shoot it accurately and I like the fact that it makes a little bigger hole than 9mm with capacity still being high.

I carry 9's for:
-Splits
-Capacity
-Recoil
-Wife loves
-Ease of stocking one caliber deeply

I do own a couple of .40's and plenty of ammo, just don't shoot them or carry them.

I'm in the same boat here, makes no sense to consolidate to one caliber platform to me. I couldn't find 9mm anywhere, or at least in bulk. After Sandy hook, .357sig was easier to find than 9mm, which was crazy to me.

I'm in the other camp...it makes PERFECT sense to consolidate to one caliber. That way ALL of my handguns shoot the same ammo and ALL of my ammo works for ALL of my handguns.

I'm stocked deep, though so maybe thats why I feel comfortable. (15,000+ .223/5.56)(10,000+ 9mm)(10,000+ .22)

You are right on this one! We think alike.

One Caliber, fits every pistol "all same mfg", every magazine. Pistols. 9mm.
One Caliber, fits every rifle, "different mfg's", every magazine. Rifles 223/556.
One Caliber, fits every shotgun, "different mfg's", Shotguns 12 gauge.
One Caliber, fits every rifle, "different mfg's", 22 long rifle.
One Caliber, fits every rifle, "same mfg's". 30-30

That is all.
