Other faiths don't allow gay marriage.

Rick, it's Christians that are holding up the gay marriage thing. Surely you don't deny this? I mean it ain't sharia law that's holding back gays from getting married in Idaho and it ain't the Jewish faith.

what other faith ordains ministers, has chapels and takes issue with gays getting married?

If they are Christians, by default they believe in God and Jesus and by default they believe in Heaven. Gender does not matter to God or Jesus when you get to Heaven. I mean do you really believe God will have different bathrooms for boys n ggirls or that marriage will even matter when you get to heaven?

Remember when you get to heaven it'll all be about singing n praising and sitting at the right hand of the throne. Not time for fussing about who's screwing who and who's in what relationship. You better be singing and loving and praising or ya might get tossed out.

Muslims don't allow gay marraige. Many muslim countries have criminal punishments for being gay. Iran hangs them. Several muslim countries it is a death sentence to be openly gay.

Iran's former president ( Mahmoud Amadinejad) once told an audience of american university students that Iran doesn't have any gay people.

From which religion did you learn that there is no gender in heaven? Why do Christians call God "Father" if there is no gender in eternity?

Why do you have an idea that activities in heaven will be limited to singing, praising, and sitting next to God? I would like to understand your opinion better.

That's my point.....it's a Christian thing. Christians are the ones putting up a fuss about gay marriage.

Nothing is holding back gays from getting married in Idaho - same-sex marriage became legal there on October 15, 2014. It was Friday, October 17th, when the same-sex couple asked to be married by the Knapps. Nothing whatsoever was holding them back from being married by the JP or some other official who didn't object to performing the ceremony at the time this particular brouhaha started. IMHO it appears that the entire intent of the act and complaint, especially given the timeline, was to create dissent and attempt to rub their sexual proclivity into someone else's face.

Sadly, it seems to be a pretty common tactic judging by your arguments here especially including your misstatements about religious principles in an apparent attempt to inflame - intellectual or perhaps spiritual vandalism, if you will - trying to destroy or tear down whatever you don't agree with. Feel sorry for you if that's the best you've got, even more so if you really believe what you've been saying.

Who cares what Idaho does? I'm sure gays sue people all the time. Straight ppl do to.

ETA

The gay couple didn't file a lawsuit. It was the Knapps. They were warned by the city privately and publicly that when gay marriage passed, they would have to marry anyone or else face fines and possibly arrest.

They chose to disobey the law, they chose to file suit. They are a for profit wedding chapel....essentially a business open to the public. Since it is against the law to discriminate, in this case, gender discrimination, I expect they will lose.

Well, Rick might have started this thread, but Lurker66 has turned it into this:

Reminds me of the Walmart threads....

Not trolling this time. I just find it funny in a sad way that people spew nonsense about religion and God. These 2 ppl (knapps) are making a mockery out of a religious ceremony that is supposed to be something Holy and sacred.

If they were truly interested in the Holy sanctity of marriage they wouldn't be running a "play marriage ceremony" chapel type business.

Soooooo, what is the difference between forcing secular beliefs on the religious and citing religious objections to secular beliefs?

Seems like the old 'yer freedoms stop when I get MY Manties in a wad' argument. Hammer and Sickle anyone?

My business is my business should be the end of the discussion. I suppose "No shoes, no shirt, no service" is discriminating to hippahs and tweakers.

New campaign, anyone?

The gay couple filed a complaint with the city, the city threatened the Knapps, the Knapps filed a suit to block the city.

Because of the freedom of speech clause they can not be forced to perform the wedding because it will be forcing them to say something they do not believe, so they stand a very good chance of winning, at least according to several lawyers that have written comments on the news story.

Some of you are making a big deal. Out of the couple charging for their services. But, in my part of the world. Unless you are a tight wad liberal. The preacher is always paid cash in an envelope for weddings and funerals. And the church is given a "tithe" for use of the facility.
