mainly businesses and owners
Because Veterans Day, like Labor day, memorial day, and a few others got put in the same class as Valentines Day.
People, mainly businesses and owners don't give 2 shats about sacrifice or honor or remembrance. It's about the almighty dollar
Holidays have become a Comercial success.
The consumers complain the loudest about being closed for business to observe a holiday.
I am a 3rd generation veteran and have like most of you worked many veterans days. yes I agree it should be the day that vets get to take a break. But I chose to become a veteran by the life I chose and like many others that choose that path do so because we have a sense of service. Many times i find myself more comfortable serving others than thinking of myself. In all my years of service i never complained about working holidays or the times deployed away from my family i just always knew there was a greater cause. I am thankful for all the restaurants and businesses that take the time to honor our service. but it is not necessary or required. It makes me smile when i see others taking note of those still in uniform and that is thanks enough for me. Yes there are those that have never served that will get the day off to go sit in the deer stand or drink a beer, while many in uniform are required to be on duty. let us not forget the reasons we chose to serve, to protect the freedoms of this country so that the rest could continue to sit in the deer stands, drink a beer, own a gun, speak their minds, choose to live the way they want. For those of you working this veterans day thanks for your continued service.
