My wife and I are looking to replace our mattress. (Insert jokes here) I was wondering where everyone in the Tulsa area shops for mattresses. Just looking for a good quality mattress without too many bells and whistles.

Thanks

Do not get one of those I think serta's with all the individual coils.. that was the last one we got and it was fine then about a year later it was sway backed.
Wears out quickly.
Now it has zero stains because we do not eat on it and it has 3 sets of sheets than get washed 1 time a week.

The best mattress I ever got was from a guy that builds them .. he is near H&H in OKC . he had this blue and white stripped heavy cotton material like the stuff you get in jail.

anyway he told me he uses 3" foam and 6" cotton.. wrapped the springs with heavy burlap and other stuff was going on.
I watched him make some right there.
He stated the foam will sag and wear down.. so he used more cotton which makes it last longer.
That sucker was heavy.
And it was the most comfy mattress. I got another for my grandmother and a spare bedroom.

I bought a queen-sized mattress set from Mattress Firm last month. It was last year's model and I got it for half price-$299. It's a Hampton and Rhodes 9" pillow top mattress and so far I have no complaints. I bought it at the Broken Arrow store but had to pick it up from their big store on 71st St. I think it might be this one: http://www.mattressfirm.com/hampton_and_rhodes_9_pillow_top-p265.aspx

It depends on your budget, and how much you're willing to invest in sleep.

I figure a decent quality mattress will last at least 10 years. At least that's how we justified our Stearns & Foster mattress.

The one we got about 6 years ago is a Luxury Estate pillowtop (king bed). I think it retailed for $3500 at Mattress Firm in OKC. When we told them that was way out of our budget, the salesman checked the off-demo stock. Turned out they had one and could sell it for $1300 as-is without a warranty. The way we looked at it, that was $130/yr invested into good sleep. The off-demo mattresses have already been purchased once but returned within 30 days of purchase because the customer decided it wasn't for them. They are thoroughly sanitized before resale.

Going from a $500 Serta Perfect Sleeper to that was night and day. Before, I had to wait 30-45 minutes to fall asleep and figured it was just sleep issues. I was also in a hurry to get out of bed in the morning. After, it takes 10 minutes to fall asleep and I have to fight to get out of bed. When friends house-sit, we always get asked if they can take our mattress home.

We upgraded to a King size last year. Bought a Lady Americana Elite Luxury from Mathis Sleep Center. They have a store in Broken Arrow. It was more than I wanted to spend but it has a lifetime warranty and if you buy their $100 mattress protector you get 12 months to decide if you like it. If not you can exchange it or get your money back.

We like the Select Comfort mattress (Sleep Number) that we bought at one of their stores in Oklahoma City. It has been an amazing bed for us. For instance, the wife and I have different settings that we set each side to, and when asked both of us can rave about the comfort of the bed. She sets hers for 45 and I set my side at 100. If I try sleeping on a bed as soft as her side, I start getting backaches within a day or two of sleeping on them.

We originally had one that was what is called an "extended queen" mattress in our home. When we sold our home and bought an RV, we ordered the premium RV mattress for our fifth wheel, because the extended queen wouldn't fit in the bedroom of the RV. The wife likes it even better than the one we had in our previous home, partly because the pillow top isn't as thick as what was on our "home' bed.

The least expensive most basic Sleep Number Mattress is far superior to the most expensive most 'complicated' regular mattress. Have had a Sleep Number now for six years. No more back aches. Sleep through the night. Both of you can select your own best number. They are great.

I'm just waiting for them to come out with the sit number seat cushion for my bony butt.
