Makes you wonder how many other people she made that promise to but still got what she needed. She's probably got a 100ft long list of people who she owes.

I have had to take 2 people to small claims and always added interest and court cost to it first got settled out of court cause her employer was going to fire her if she didnt settle and keep it out of court but if it went to court she was fired, the second one i settled on a payment plan that the judge set up only because it was a family member which now i regret even thou i got my money he caused more headache later.

That is what I was thinking. Go to the bank everyday and see if it will clear. If it does, cash it.

You can also just call the bank and see if funds are available.
I did that every time a person gave me a check.

+1 for what RickM said. I had to file a claim with the local court twice for people who either didn’t pay or wrote a bad check. You’ll get interest added in your filing and if it goes to court and they don’t show you’ll win automatically or at least that’s what my experience was.

Look up the DA’s office. I’ve had to do it many times and 95+% of the time I’ve gotten my money without the need for an attorney.

As others have said, either hit her bank on a day you know she’s likely to have gotten a deposit, or notify her you’re filing a criminal complaint with the DA’s office if she doesn’t pay immediately.
