Alright, I've been out after hogs a few times and I've been struggling with the right load. Clearly I need something heavier grain and expanding. I've been using 62 grain FMJ, which in hindsight was a poor loading choice. My barrel is 1/7 so stabilization will not be an issue with heavier bullets. What are the opinions of OSA?

I use Federal Cases Annealed and FLS with .003" neck tension NO crimp, VLD chamfer the case mouth and brush the ID.
CCI 450 H4895 at 25 gr for AR15 seated 2.250 to 2.255" whatever will fit your magazine. 26 gr for bolt gun seated 2.275"
Bullet is 55gr V max flat base. I have shot under 1" at 200 with AR15 and under 1" at 300 with the bolt gun.

My AR is 16" 1:7 stainless. 1:9 on the bolt gun. and longer barrel.
As far as performance on deer hogs and Coyote , they all fell where they stood.
Except 1 coyote which was crouched taking a dump.. he jumped when shot and was laying 10 feet from his fresh pile.

Try some.

You’re shooting them in the wrong place. Last time I went out at night, I killed 2, dropped them, with my 10/22 with CCI standard velocity.
