OKLAHOMA CONSTITUTION ARTICLE 2 § 26.
BEARING ARMS-CARRYING WEAPONS.
The right of a citizen to keep and bear arms in defense of his
home, person, or property, or in aid of the civil power, when thereunto legally
summoned, shall never be prohibited; but nothing herein contained
shall prevent the Legislature from regulating the carrying of weapons.

So lets sit down and write something that is correct and pass it. We have enough people with the legal expertise to draft a law along with members to get the ball rolling. I bet that if we all sit down and get 10 people each to sign we could be on the ballot easily. Put that along with the other groups in the state who actually want to advance our rights and it will be a viable way to get things done. If they can pass something that will funnel money out of the jail system for "treatment" then we can expand our rights.

It clearly gives the legislature the power to "regulate" that carriage, which--by requiring a permit--the legislature has done. The laws don't fall afoul of this particular constitutional provision.

If you want to argue they violate the Second Amendment to the US Constitution, I'll join you, but they don't violate that provision of the Oklahoma Constitution.

Ok, some on here are sounding like the snowflakes we love to make fun of. So, this bill didn't get signed. Nothing has changed. Read some other threads. We have members dealing with cancer, family members with Alzheimer's, loss of jobs, etc. A fifteen year old kid here in Moore, who was trapped in the rubble of his school in the may 20, 2013 tornado and has been dealing with PTSD ever since, took his own life last Sunday. There are bigger issues in life. Enjoy the life you have, it can change in an instant.

Another school shooting today. Fourteen year old takes rifle to school and gets into a fight. These events sure make the public perception work against our viewpoint.

Who they should be looking at is the parents that let a 14 year old take a gun to school!!

While true and tragic this is a red herring that’s got nothing to do with this topic. You could use those same arguments in an attempt to silence or make anyone’s thoughts on any topic seem frivolous. That is EXACTLY what kind of language the left uses to shut down arguments.
