New woods/boat gun. I had been looking for one since I sold my full size DAK P220. I carry DAK guns but prefer DA/SA for the woods. My attention had been focused on a new P220 10mm DA/SA but the cost was high ($1235.) I really like snake shot and there is no better caliber than .45 ACP for that. So, before ordering the 10mm, I looked and found a .45 that I liked. Still get to use my snake shot and get a lighter gun with the aluminum frame. Plus, keeps from having to get another batch of ammo for a different caliber. It's a special run from Davidson's. They were pretty much all sold out from all dealers a couple years ago but I did find one new one left and ordered it. I liked it because it has the Elite slide with forward serrations. It also has the Combat frame with true Pic rail (although I'll probably never use it.) It is a 2-tone which is sorta fugly but the frame is anodized instead of painted on. At least it won't be peeling with a lot of hard use.But what I really liked about it was the fact it was less than $600 including shipping and transfer fee.

That's an interesting observation. I like to use snake shot as well for fun stuff. Use the .22 CCI in a rifle to shoot the wood bees that burrow into the barn that I call redneck trap shooting while they are hovering over the eve, and at one time when running beagles on rabbits tried it in a .44 mag and then in a 1911 .45 ACP.
It has to be something with the twist in the barrels, but when patterning the shot shells, the .45 always produced a tighter group. Using both on rabbits behind the dogs the .45 excelled. Only did it a couple of hunts over the years, as that is not a really preferred method of taking game, but on rabbits at close range, 3 yards or less it produced a dead rabbit.
I have the cases to load my own shot shell loads for pistol in .38 using Unique powder.

I've not used. 45 snake shot on small game but have used it extensively on snakes. I still hunt and fish in my old teenage stomping grounds, LeFlore county, and frequently come across Copperheads and Cottonmouths. The largest snake I killed with it was a 5 ft Timber Rattler at Lake Tenkiller just after it killed my neighbors Lab. Took its head clean off. Patterns much better than any of the other calibers. I always carry a spare mag full of it.
