"A drug used to treat malaria is showing promise against coronavirus, according to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF), which says scientists are working diligently to test the drug as a possible treatment for COVID-19.

A recent study abstract published in PubMed Journal stated the efficacy of chloroquine phosphate as a potential treatment for the current spread of COVID-19. The study outlined that in clinical trials in China, chloroquine, an FDA-approved drug for the treatment of malaria, was effective and safe in dealing with COVID-19 associated pneumonia in a lab dish. This triggered a spread of anticipation throughout the world about a possible treatment for the pandemic virus.

Judith James, M.D., Ph.D., vice president of Clinical Affairs at OMRF, says that she has found chloroquine phosphate highly effective in treating patients with lupus, an autoimmune disease, and explains how the drug may work in people with COVID-19. “When malaria gets into a cell, if you change the pH with a drug like chloroquine phosphate, the malaria can’t live,” she says, according to Oklahoma TV station KFOR. “The same goes for a virus like COVID-19. If you change the pH, the virus cannot assemble, and if can’t assemble, it can’t affect you.”

James, an immunologist and rheumatologist, explains that using preexisting drugs is the best way to fast track a treatment for the virus. “That would be really exciting, because it’s a drug that already has FDA approval, and it is readily available,” she says. “If it works, it might treat COVID-19 almost instantly.

However, many experts are quick to remind that human trials are needed before chloroquine phosphate can be touted as am [sic] answer."

I guess I'm safe. I drink about 6 oz of tonic water every night to prevent leg cramps and it works. Tonic water contains quinine - an antimalarial drug similar to chloroquine. (I hope this doesn't create a run on tonic water. I only keep about a months supply on hand!) Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, pharmacist, nor a druggie, so take what I have written with a grain of salt. My comments are from my own experiences, opinions, arrogance, insecurities, ignorance, stupidity, greed, old age, dementia, --- and --- eh --- where was I? Oh. Never mind.

Wife just got a recorded phone call from school. Starting next Tuesday between the hours of 9:30-10:30am people can take their kids to school and the school is giving a lunch and breakfast to-go to each child under 18yo. The meals are delivered to the vehicle. For a child to receive their meals they must be present in the vehicle. This is being provided at no cost to the recipient.

We personally will not need to partake in this but figured I’d share this news with y’all.

I simply cannot understand the cruelty and barbaric comments from he left, some are hoping Melania Trump comes down with the Coronavirus. Then Trump declared a Nation Day of Prayer and Tilab agreed with a comment by that child David Hogg who said F...a National Day of Prayer to which Tilab agreed then she received so much back lash that she pulled her comment agreeing with Hogg. In my opinion, a woman saying the F word is about the lower they could go verbally. By the use of that word they are not a lady, only a female and in name only-especially in such a position as a congresswoman. She should set the standard for our youth to follow.

If I owned the bar I was pursuing to buy last Jan. I garrangawdamn promise you it would be open for nosiness until I, the owner, said its closed. Why do these places seem to think they must bow to the Mayor? Of all people? He has no powers at all?!

What kind of backward a8s misogynistic BS is this? Who cares if it's a male or female who uses the word? Either the use of the word lowers your opinion of someone or it doesn't. It doesn't matter if the person has an innie or an outie (or an innie that was turned into an outie, or vice versa). This is almost as bad as people wishing certain other people would get the virus.
