If a woman wears a very revealing blouse with her hooties hanging out and yells at you for sexualizing her body by staring, was she just asking for it by the way she was dressed?

I doubt it's an unpopular opinion here, but I'd catch hell anywhere else for saying "If she didn't want me to look, she wouldn't dress that way."
I'm just gonna hope when she yells at me her hooties jiggle.

Why would one continue to own and operate a business in an area of town known to be high in crime? Could be robbed at night or even during the day at gunpoint pretty easily. Better put some bars up and a door entry system requiring one to be buzzed in.

No one wants to answer my weedeater question? Can I leave my weedeater on the front porch, or the back porch or in my shed without a lock, alarm system, on-call firing squad?

You can leave your weed eater wherever you want. I guess it depends on how much risk of it being stolen you want to take. Common sense would dictate we lock up those things we don’t want stolen but that seems to be a rare commodity these days. I see posts all the time on the ring app about someone having their unlocked car gone thru. Unfortunately we live in a world where people steal things but fortunately most thieves are too stupid to steal things that are locked up. That should be a clue for those that want to keep their belongings. I would prefer the on-call firing squad but that might cause a few legal problems.

Just wondering when and where people have responsibility for their possessions or themselves for that fact. If a child shoots himself with a gun that wasn't secured. Child's fault? Its not a matter of how many layers of security its whats reasonable and prudent. Which was tossed out of this thread a long time ago.

Currently checking Uniform Crime Reports to see how many people per year are murdered or assaulted with stolen weedeaters....

https://www.ucrdatatool.gov

You mean tools? Like... hammers, baseball bats, knives, etc.? Let us know what you find, and how those numbers affect our responsibility to keep our private possessions out of the hands of criminals.

Get back to me when you're ready to have a real, honest discussion about when a homeowner has taken enough steps to secure their tools from unauthorized use, okay? I mean, it's just common sense, right? How many steps?

Doesn’t matter how many steps/ layers of security! If someone wants it bad enough, they’ll get it. You will not stop a motivated thief .

"I'm not blaming the woman/gun owner/etc, BUT.... if they had done things differently, the criminal wouldn't have had the opportunity."

The bottom line is, if I have a possession, I have the right to expect my possession will be left alone. There is NO WAY WHATSOEVER that I am at fault if someone breaks into my car and steals an object from my car.

NONE. NO BLAME. ZERO.

A woman has the right to expect she won't be sexually assaulted no matter what condition she is in or how she is dressed. Period. NO MATTER WHAT. If some scumbag rapes her, and you want to talk about, "Well, if she hadn't been dressed that way/hadn't been drinking/hadn't gone into that area of town late at night," then YOU ARE BLAMING HER. Maybe a tiny amount, but YOU ARE. She has the right to expect her lady parts will remain UNVIOLATED - NO MATTER WHAT.

Why is a gun any different than any other tool? As gun owners, we make the argument ALL THE TIME that guns are just a tool, guns are no responsible for injuries, killing or mass murder. So if someone steals my hammer and murders someone with it, are you going to chide me for not locking up my hammer?

If I have to lock up my gun... tell me... HOW MANY LAYERS of security do I have to have before you NO LONGER BLAME ME for someone breaking in and stealing my ****???? ANSWER THE F****ING QUESTION. HOW MANY LAYERS OF SECURITY DO YOU THINK ARE "ENOUGH"?

Once again a firearm clearly has the potential to be deadly. That’s partially why we own/ carry one. Weedeaters are not. Legal liability is inherent to owning firearms. We choose that when we decide to own one. The word here is PRUDENT plain and simple. Same as driving a car. We DO have a responsibility to others in both cases. Not so with your weed eater. Why is that so hard to understand. Maybe because you would rather argue

What about your hammer/shovel/riding mower/etc.? Those are deadly, too.

What about your car??? I mean... if I keep my car unlocked, but don't leave anything in it, and someone steals it ("because it was left out and unlocked"), how much responsibility do I bear?

I'm freaking serious here. Be intellectually honest and stop making excuses, all of you. If you think someone "should" put things under lock and key, then you should be honest and up front enough to tell us when we've done enough to merit your approval and not be 'to blame' if someone robs us of our property. By allowing ourselves to be robbed of dangerous objects, then we're putting the public at risk, no?

How much blame do we carry. Be honest.
