So if Harris gets her "assault weapons ban" passed I think I would convert (if I owned any) my AR-15s to bolt action rifles by simply removing the gas tube... Also I will begin to become more environmentally conscious and start using metal straws in my home of varying lengths, diameters, and designs.

From what I have read, there is aslo a plan to ban any weapon that would be able to have a "high capicity" magazine insetred whether one had the magazine or not.

Yes the gasses will shoot out the back of the gas block and the bolt will not cycle. You then have to charge the rifle again manually. This makes the rifle a straight pull bolt action rifle much like (but not at all like) the Swiss K31.

Ok well dang it. During the last AWB Bushmaster was able to skirt some of the law on one of their AR pistols by epoxying a mag into the mag well making it non removable. You had to load the mag by tipping the upper receiver up and load the mag through the lower... I'm not going that far, but someone might to lift a finger to Harris. If my 5-10 round mag is not removable, AND my rifle dow not function as a semi automatic, then what's next?

That is correct, the gas blowback from the gas tube rotates the bolt and forces it back.

They won't make the same mistakes this time like they did with the 1994 ban. They learned their lessons and any new one will not have any loopholes.
