Blind ignorance . — Too many have it

Honor is doing what is right - regardless

There is no honor in putting everyone at risk.
I guess it depends on the circumstances.

That aside.

Circling back to your apples to apples comparison.
Critiquing after the fact looking at the situation and having a fast developing situation isn't really apples to apples either.

Should haves, could haves, would haves are easy to throw around when you have no skin in the game.

I see nothing has changed. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. You can't win with Monday morning quarterbacking.

Throughout my career, I had seconds to see the situation, decide upon an action then act with the knowledge attorneys had years to pick it apart.

If you have to second guess yourself you might as well not have the job. Same as here. I know it wasn't his job to act but he had the skills and the mindset to do so. Funny thing they didn't show the rest of the violence he performed upon the nut clutching idiot.

Mere seconds or less. And sometimes those seconds seem like an eternity.

he could have just stood there and analyzed everything until he analyzed a bullet entering his own skull
My thoughts exactly.
He gained control of the gun by grabbing the slide from what I could see, and had the guy down, out of sight of anyone outdoors behind the row of merchandise. The kid could have easily popped the marine in the head as an example to the store clerk to give up the money when entering or any dozen of other scenarios.
He reacted to his training by taking action to protect himself first from that immediate threat, giving him time to analyze what is going to happen next.
Fortunately, it all worked out in his favor.

Whatever the Marine had in the bag in his right hand looked to be substantial, enough so that he did appear to use it to whack the punk up the side of his empty head anyway. I won't say it was a good decision or a bad decision...I wasn't there ; none of us were. I'm just saying that he obviously made a split second decision and carried it out with speed and violence of action. Some of you just don't get it though. The Marine in the video in the link below does though.
