There’s a stray dog half a mile from my house. Gets fed by the lady at the donut shop and tons of people that drive through. The dog won’t get near anyone. I’m wanting to take the dog in.

Would it be crazy to post a sign that says “Please dont’t feed the stray dog. I will every morning at 7:30 to give the dog a home.”

The dog is surviving fine alone and just hangs out in the area. It does get in the road and will eventually get hit or have puppies. The last thing anyone needs is a litter of homeless pitbull mix puppies.
I think it’s a female but not sure.

I found strays that you rehome miss the wide open space and like to escape and be strays.
Maybe so. Mainly I just don’t want to see a whole litter of pups out there. They will end up put down most likely. Kinda of annoys me that the donut lady feeds the dog all the time for months but doesn’t want to give it a home. Pretty sure the dog likes donuts and scraps more than dog food.

That's been my experience, too ... Well except for this worthless piece of dogmeat laying in my lap ... SNORING ... Living the high life. This little **** knows where the good life is ... And it ain't at the lake ... 😋😁

I've got a feral dog problem that I'm still working to eliminate.

It might not hurt to try to trap the dog if it won't let anyone near. We all want to be the dog whisperer, but the chances of earning its trust and getting everyone to comply with your feeding wishes before the dog becomes roadkill are slim.

As a dog lover and husband to a Veterinarian I'm pained to say that sometimes dogs don't do well with a lot of human interaction. Be careful.
