I was looking at this the other day. The video I watched said they can get by with using short barrels because the 1:3 twist spins the bullets so fast that they do more damage, at least in ballistic gel. Solid or bonded bullets are needed so they won't come apart in flight.

1:3 twist?? That’s awfully fast - wouldn’t that result in a shortening of the barrel life?
