Not every range. Probably every public range. I belong to a gun club and we can certainly draw from the holster. I also do some shoot and move drills. But I get it. Public ranges are allergic to realistic gun handling due to insurance requirements. Finding an affordable gun club can be tough in larger, metropolitan areas but in rural areas, it's generally easier. I pay $100 a year for a membership for my wife and myself.
He doesn't have to shoot first. You have to show, beyond a reasonable doubt, that you were in fear for your life or grave bodily injury. If you had to wait until you shot you in the chest with a shotgun before you could shoot,,, well you may as well just say your prayers, because your chance of survival is extremely low at that point. No one is expected to take a bullet in order to have to defend their life.
My range permits it. Of course, I own it, so I set the rules.
That is Cheap for what ya have there, the taxes on my backyard aren't that cheap.
Property taxes what are those? I wish I had more property to not pay taxes on. But in all honesty they are getting high.
Having encountered ricco on the now-defunct Kansas forum I can say that he has influenced me a fair amount. Now, most of the time, like him I would not intervene if strangers were involved. I carry to defend myself, and my family, not to be while knight, or a hero.
Now obviously, if I come across a bunch of school kids being massacred I'll probably do something about it. I'm not saying that I'll never intervene, but I'll be damned selective about those cases where I do.

Like Ricco, that's your prerogative and I am not judging you for it. It's a free country after all and you have a right to decide what's best for you. I however, could never live with myself if someone (school kids, at risk adult or whoever) perished because of my inaction.

Not a state-of-the-art facility or anything, but they have 5 pistol bays, a 25-yard range for pistol and getting a rifle on paper and then burms out to 500 meters. It is often a bit overgrown but we do a clean-up and mow and weed eat a couple of times in the summer and it suffices well enough. They do IDPA every couple of weeks and USPSA type matches every month and I think they do a steel challenge sort of thing every month as well. We get our money's worth out of it.
