I once did something to damage a nail (seems like something sharp got jabbed into it just above the cuticle, but it has been a looong time). It kept splitting, so I painted it with clear polish until the damage grew out.

It's not my thing, but of the weird things that people do to express themselves, this one is pretty benign. H8ll, I'm pretty sure that I offend someone every time I go out with my tattoos on display (and I don't even have that many). So who am I to say that some dude can't enjoy painting his nails.
I've noticed that the older I get, the less things like this bother me. I don't know if that's maturity or just a lack of interest in things that don't directly harm or otherwise affect me.

I used to go to Kerrville Texas for a few years for a Fiat meet and one of the guys there painted his fingernails. He dressed really weird also. He had a good-looking girlfriend so, I guess he wasn't gay.
