Why is Guymon not the hottest place to live right now?

Our friends were Clark and Arlene Schultz that were the rodeo clowns. Another part of their act was to work with de-scented skunks and an old "Bucking Ford."

By chance, there was a couple that got married in the church that I attend a good number of years back, and I was working the media booth (mostly lights and sound) and was talking with a gentleman that was related to one of those getting married. Come to find out, he was also related to the Shultz's and had the old Ford on his place. He also worked some with renting out old firearms for theatrical or movie projects. I just can't remember that gentleman's name.
I'll bet it was Sam. That bucking ford was his prop when he was a rodeo cowboy. He had lots of firearms that he used in his show. Some belched black smoke and other white smoke.

But, but, you have a lake there for water sports? LOL!
I want to go there the next time we pass through there which will be next month to see the government debacle.
I know the head engineer who designed Optima Lake. Hes passed on now but he used to get heated when I mentioned Optima LMAO

- All the benefits of OK laws, but closer to the Rockies
- 5 hours to Colorado Springs
- 5 hours to Albuquerque
- 2 hours to Amarillo
- Less swampy weather in the summers, proper cold and snow in the winters
- Drive 30 mins in either direction (N or S) and you are in a different state! You could eat breakfast in Liberal KS and then dinner in Perryton TX and you would have covered the same time/distance as driving around the OKC metro

I lived in Booker as a small Child but move to Canadian Tx in 1975 and roughneck and drilled for Baker and Taylor Drilling Co. Then became a mud engineer and drove in 3 states daily back then. I have been on several wells on all sides of Perryton in the past 5 yrs and its pretty hard to find good prepared food in that area. But ya, Guymon is in the middle of nowhere also. Drilled several wells on Boone Pickens ranch the year before he passed and it was a hour to Pampa or a hr to Perryton to get groceries.

Hooker Oklahoma. Wow what a blast from the past.

A long time ago, when I was in College, mid/late 70's, I was acquainted with a very nice and pretty woman from Hooker.

Let's just say she had a rather unique last name that, coupled with her being from Hooker, brought a lot of laughs and innuendos. She handled it well.

It's been a long time, I hope she's still around and doing well.
Last name "Paid"?
I stayed at the Hooker Inn several days ago. The owner is from Croatia, and he is an interesting character. He was a grumpy fellow at first, but he changed his attitude pretty quickly. He told me all about his paintings, and showed me numerous YouTube videos on Croatia. Never could get the full story out of him as to how he ended up in the panhandle. I asked if it was because of a woman, and he just nodded his head up and down.
He and his brother came here and opened various businesses. He lives in Guymon with his wife.
I like the guy. Here is a panoramic view of one of the mornings I was there. I have never before or since seen a sunrise that was 360 degrees and that beautiful.
