I think most people buy them to look cool, I have personally never seen the point of them. Like mentioned previously it will change barrel harmonics because you are essentially just hanging a weight on the end of your barrel that serves no purpose. Adding weight to a rifle can help with accuracy but not typically on the end of the barrel. My 2 cents for what it’s worth is you would be better off saving money until you can buy a real suppressor.

I pinned and welded a fake suppressor to my MP5 build so I wouldn’t have to go through the paperwork for a SBR. Brought the barrel length to 16_1/4”.
does it look like the SD model? Mp5 SD is by far my favorite gun. That fat barrel is just sexy. I have a regular pistol mp5 gsg. Unfortunately the charging handle broke. I haven’t shot a gun in almost 15 years, so it’s been broke that long lmao.

I have one on a AR that i bought off a friend due to him needing some money quick but have yet to take it out of the case and shot it, more or less waiting to see if he decides that he has the money to pay me back and wants the gun back.

It is front heavy but kept me from having to sbr it (it is pinned etc) ;) like these two:) short compact guns are fun. And these are really small as under folders. It is a heck of a lot of firepower in a small package. Far as the op question; I don’t think you can wear out a tube. Imho

I don’t see the point in real suppressors if you’re not going to run sub sonic ammo, and I dang sure don’t see the point in putting something on the end of your barrel just to “look“ like you’re in the cool kids club.

My brother has 4 legal suppressors, and I give him hell all the time.
I get most of your point but there is a huge difference in running my Colt LE6920 suppressed vs unsuppressed. It is much more pleasant to shoot. My daughter will shoot that all day long but won't without it. When folks think they should be quieter or think it's not doing much I remove it and they are all universally shocked at how much difference it's really making.

As for faux cans $40 Chinese lasers etc. I think they are stupid and make a weapon a toy which it sure the hell isn't.
