Hmm, I read on the web to use 1 cup water with 1/2 cup sugar. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but they still seem to drink it quickly.
I'll try the 4:1 and save on some sugar lol

I do 3-1 until it gets really hot out, then I switch to 4-1. Usually keeps them around in swarms lol.

I had my feeder out the day I saw this thread (2 weeks ago?) and the water has been going down but no birds? Evaporation maybe? I need to refill it in a few days.

Keep it fresh. Think of it as free beer on ladies night. You’d want it cold and plentiful!

I have been keeping track of the first H-bird I see for more than 25 years.

The earliest sighting has been in Apr 5th, in 2016. The heaviest concentration of sightings occurred in the 3rd week of April, from the 15th on.

I live near I-35 and Seward Rd, just SE of Guthrie.

Same here with a April 4th sighting several years ago.

Typically, I put our feeders out on April 15th. Last year we had a couple show up on April 13th looking for the feeders we place on the windows. The vast majority start showing up around the end of April.
