Money flowed readily in the 80’s and early 90’s. We were so busy trying to figure out how to get our piece. Parents passed some of the easy excess on to the kids.
The worst thing that could have been done.
I missed that part. My kids didn’t get color tv until they were young teens. We ate dinner as a family at the dinner table with no distractions. A new job fixed a lot of the money issue though.

I guess I'm a square.
I mean.. The USPS doesn't exactly scream "cool" the garbage man on the other hand, the one that rode around on the back of the truck, cool AF.
I'm thinking about growing a hipster beard and a sleeve tattoo. Is it cheaper if you have skinny arms?
That would actually look good on you, like you were some old rock n roll icon. You could tell people you invented Led Zepplin.

You know my dad actually cringed when my middle son literally screamed "I wanna be the trash guy when I grow up!" as we passed a garbage dumpster with two guys standing on the back bumper! 😂😂😂😂 OMG I almost wrecked the car I was laughing so hard!

The members of Gen X that lived and didn't fall to despair are some of the hardest workers. They lacked the advantages given to the boomers or the millinials and faced setback after setback as society crumbled around them. To generalize what I have seen from a management perspective:

Boomers: entitled, incompetent, poor communication, abysmal tech skills. Every once in a while there's a good one usually in upper management that has been there his whole life or did a bunch of bad ass stuff. prefer talking to texting, dont remember what was said.

Gen X: Solid, good decisions, good communication, work well with tech, succeeds against all odds, work well alone. Prefer texting to talking

Millennials: good communication, great tech skills, work well as teams, whine a lot, need constant recognition and affirmation. on their phones a lot

Gen Z: Turds or Gems with no in between. Not tech savvy with traditional systems, file folders, email, spreadsheets. on their phones constantly.

I've said here, more than once, and I think both Annie and BadgeBunny would say the same thing -- when the Boomers get on here and ***** about the younger generations being lazy and entitled and just basically little pricks I kind of cringe. And I'm probably guilty of fussing Sometimes too.

BUT ... Every single fella I've met on OSA who was young enough to be my child -- and there are a BUNCH of you little snots! 😳 -- have been some of the most polite, hardest working, honorable mother****ers I have ever had the privilege to know.

You guys give me hope for the future of this country. So know your worth guys. Just because some Boomer thinks you're a bum and some Gen Zer thinks you're a bastard because you don't have time to acknowledge their feelings because you are too busy putting food on the table and a roof over their ungrateful little heads just know it is NOT going unnoticed. 😘

I also wanted to add that Gen x and Millennials weren't the ones who sporterized all the milsurp.
Correct! They were the ones who got all the cheap and so plentiful milsurps that they were of little value to vanish from the market completely. Buncha dang Karens... 😃

They call us ”The Elderly”
We were born in the 40-50-60’s.
We grew up in the 50-60-70's.
We studied in the 60-70-80's.
We were dating in the 70-80-90's.
We got married and discovered the world in the 70-80-90's.
We venture into the 80-90’s.
We stabilize in the 2000’s.
We got wiser in the 2010’s.
And we are going firmly through and beyond 2020.
Turns out we've lived through EIGHT different decades...
TWO different centuries...
TWO different millennia...
We have gone from the telephone with an operator for long-distance calls to video calls to anywhere in the world.
We have gone from slides to YouTube, from vinyl records to online music, from handwritten letters to email and Whats App.
From live matches on the radio, to black and white TV, colour TV and then to 3D HD TV.
We went to the Video store and now we watch Netflix.
We got to know the first computers, punch cards, floppy disks and now we have gigabytes and megabytes on our smartphones.
We wore shorts throughout our childhood and then long trousers, Oxfords, flares, shell suits & blue jeans.
We dodged infantile paralysis, meningitis, polio, tuberculosis, swine flu and now COVID-19.
We rode skates, tricycles, bicycles, mopeds, petrol or diesel cars and now we drive hybrids or electric.
Yes, we've been through a lot but what a great life we've had!
They could describe us as “exennials”; people who were born in that world of the fifties, who had an analog childhood and a digital adulthood.
We've kind of “Seen-It-All”!
Our generation has literally lived through and witnessed more than any other in every dimension of life.
It is our generation that has literally adapted to “CHANGE”.
A big round of applause to all the members of a very special generation, which will be UNIQUE.

Keep on keeping on!

I read somewhere that if someone bought 100 shares of Walmart stock at the ipo, they would be well into 7 figures these days if cashing out.
My luck it would have tanked and Woolworths would have been the mega store instead.
