I just recently picked up a SW40VE since the price was right, just wondering about others opinions are on it. The trigger seems to be a tough pull.

Call Frank Smith at LSG Manufacturing in Comanche, TX (325-885-2700). Frank runs one of the S&W warranty centers listed in the back of your owner's manual. Tell him about your trigger over the phone; he'll provide Fedex authorization number so you can ship it to him at no cost to you. It takes about a week to get your pistol back.

When you get it back, the trigger action will be smoother and the pull will be a little bit lighter. This really is worth the phone call. Good luck.

Also if I read right, this piece was modeled after a Glock, where Glock ended up suing S&W since they were so similar. Any truth to that?

Yes, there is truth to the lawsuit against them by Glock.

I will say after firing a friend .40, it is a serviceable pistol. Once one considers the price, it is an outstanding pistol.

I do agree though that with the M&P it is somewhat obsolete, unless they conisder continuing offering them at a substantially discounted price compared to other polymer modular pistols.

You can do the trigger work yourself for just a few bucks, if you so desire.

It's a cinch, and if you don't like the result, it's reversable.

I think for the price they are a pretty good gun and they have a lifetime warranty. I shot a friends and it had a decent trigger, I just prefer all steel w/wood grips 1911s and cz-75s.

shot a guys at h&h once. he had one of the newer models in .40. Expected the ****** trigger like the first ones made. I was surprised. No trouble at all with the trigger. It shoots different than a glock, but so does my sig.
