So who's going? I'm waitin for the doors to open so I can get my looking done before OU kicks off. I'll give a report when I'm done for those trying to decide whether to go or not.

For those going I'm wearing a 2005 OU Camp Crimson shirt.

I will get up there later - this is SuperDave's best chance to get back into the fight with a good showing (no pun intended)
That would be a good thing - some of us seem to have forgotten that one of the big problems with the "other" major show organizer was not just his personal unpleasantness but his pressure on dealers to keep prices up by suppressing competition at his shows - oil cartel style.
The first SuperDave show I attended was about one year ago in Norman - so this will be like returning home.

BTW - if anyone cares, the Grand American Arms shows seem to have a good business model though they do not hold many shows per year compared to the others.

I just left the show after being there 45 minutes. It was my first gun show and, if you're interested, here are my thoughts.

It was smaller than I expected but I also didn't really know what to expect. Lots of ammo, some overpriced and some in line with current prices. Lots of holsters and accessories, some guns, and some of those overpriced.

Rijas had a whole room for themselves. As much as people complain about them, they were the friendliest table. As I was looking at their stuff, a woman began explaining their warranties and exchange program. Then I noticed it was a Rijas table when I saw their business card. Overpriced items, but overall nice experience.

But Superdave will want to pay attention to this: As I'm headed out, a man walks in with his son and he thought the gun show was free. He was stopped by the man at the door, the man in charge of checking firearms, and told he had to pay. The showgoer was kind of surprised, saying "I have to pay $10 to look at guns?" The gun checker confirmed. The guy then said goodbye and began leaving, but he and his child weren't 20 feet away when the gun checker said very loudly in front of customers, "what a ****ing idiot. Whoops, did I just say that out loud?"

While I understand dealing with the public can be taxing, and while I understand people who do deal with the public often say things about the public, I found it rather distasteful that the gun checker would be so brash and rude. He's there representing you, Superdave, and he did a horrible job.

Overall, my experience was positive. But if I ever go to another Superdave show and that gun checker guy is there, I'll turn around and head back home.

Have fun out there, everyone.

Leaving the show now. It was small but had a fair amount of firearms. The was a table of Tupperware and a jewelry table as well. Overall not too shabby but there wasn't anything I needed so I left empty handed.

Not making excuses, but maybe the guy thought that there were guns for SHOW like a museum.

In his defense, most everything else there is free. Farmers market, flea markets, stock shows, etc. I even went to a huge gun auction there, way better than most gun shows, and it was free.. Until you decided to buy something, that is.

If the guy never went to a gun show before (and we were all there once) I can understand. The door checker should engage brain before opening mouth. "We're the least expensive show around and children are free" would have been a much nicer thing to say.

I have yet to understand the reason gun shows charge so much for admission. But then again, I guess that's why I'm not a business man. LOL

Vendors say they have to charge more because table rent is so high and show goers say they don't buy anything because prices are so high. And the wheels on the bus go round and round.

Tupperware???? Jewelry????

Maybe it was just one table of each... but to ME, THIS was the point of SuperDave's shows more than price of admission... CONTENT.

Maybe I'm wrong.
