I've shot 1911's for decades now and probably won't ever change, but I did buy my daughter a Glock. I'm doing everything to her Glock that I've done to my 1911's, fixed the grips, trigger, and sights.

I don't know enough about the Glocks to say this, but I doubt the trigger will ever match my 1911's.

I do know that much about them. You can make it better but it will never match a good 1911 trigger. It’s just the nature of the beast...and physics.

Glocks are good guns, but their real value lies in their reliability and ease of maintenance, IMO. I trust that if I pick one up it will work. I don’t have any expectations that I can make it into something it’s not. Would I trust my life to one? You bet. I’d even choose it now over a 1911 for certain tasks.

Glock fan boy checking in. I own Glocks exclusively because they are the pistols I shoot the best. I’ve tried various other brands, and other models. I never been able to find one that suits me as well as the Glock does.

YMMV

I have shot, owned 1911s ever sense I was a kid. The first 1911 I ever fired was my dads Remington Rand. I still have that pistol.
I think both 1911s and Glocks have their advantages. Reliability is in the Glock corner but at the same time I have 1911s that have proven to be reliable.
Do I own Glocks? Yes I do. My favorite is the G19X I resently purchased. Shoots great and the balance is great.
Will I give up my 1911s??? Nope.
Just pick the handgun that is right for you for the intended purpose of the weapon.

A good question to ask in case it hasn’t been already is this one, if you had only one handgun to rely on for the rest of your life and your two choices were Glocks or 1911s which would it be? Mine would a Glock 17 or 19 simply for the reliability and interchangeable parts, mags, etc. I love the looks and feel of a 1911 and I shoot them more accurately.
