Yikes that is insane.

I agree with @John6185, I am super surprised by this. I thought the economy was booming across all sectors, with the possible exception of oil - and some of us have differing opinions on what is 'good' in that industry. High oil costs are not always good for the economy, even if it IS good for oilfield workers and petroleum companies.

I am sorry for the truckers getting stranded and out of work, that is a thankless job that requires being gone from home way more than is healthy for a lot of families.

I got a message from my company yesterday concerning this. They are asking all our company drivers, if they find a Celadon driver, to get them to file an application via the company app. I expect our ranks to swell quite a bit.

One good thing I like about my employer it's that we are 100% private owned. No public trade so we dont have to worry about losing $$$ fast via stock value losses. Watching companies like Celadon, Falcon and others crash because investors get scared and pull thier investments is a scary thing.

So I was just at a transportation conference in early October. I was told the number of loads that don't get ran per day in the US is ~35K due to driver shortages.
