28 years ago it cost me 850 for 3 molars to be pulled.
Mother-in law worked at the dental place.. that was ridiculous then.
I did not need my molars pulled.
My teeth were fine I had never been to the dentist until then I was 24.
My teeth never hurt and I am pretty sure my molars were not causing any issues.
they left 1 in because they could not get it out.
The lady pulling on it had a bruise on her arm from prying it against the side of my mouth.

I do not go to doctors unless I am dying or something fell off or is going to.
Bunch of quacks.

Holy crap! Have you guys seen the cost just to have some teeth pulled? My old dentist retired and I had to go to a new guy when I fell and broke some more teeth. Since I am on O2 he sent me to an oral sturgeon. $200 per freaking tooth! Another wants $270!

I am going to check out an old dentist I was told about by my doc and if he is not reasonable I will do it myself. Soon as the wife is not around to freak out again. :P
Yes. It’s gotten ridiculous

I have duct tape -Paper towels and super glue.
My dads Cousin did pull a tooth that was killing him.
It was at Eufaula lake while catfishing on the Rip-Rap.
He kept crying how his tooth hurt and my dad said quit crying and go to the truck and get the needle nose vice grips out of the tool box and pull the darn thing!!

He did just that right there by the waters edge.
He let out a yell then a sigh of relief after he pulled the aching tooth.
Blood poured out of his mouth for a couple minutes then quit.

All was good and he went back to catching fish and no crying.
Tough old bugger.
He worked on the railroad all his life.. Probably toughened him up.

I had a loose wisdom tooth bothering me so I tried to pull it myself. I never could get a good hold on the slippery bugger.

It wasn't painful so I just lived with it until I had to get another tooth pulled that had split right in two.

About 15 years ago I broke a wisdom tooth. The dentist recommended just pulling it, but because the root was curved, he sent me to a maxillofacial surgeon. IIRC, the surgeon wanted $170/tooth to pull wisdom teeth under general anesthetic, so $200/tooth doesn't sound like a whole lot of inflation over 15 years.

I think my old dentist charged less that $100.

Seriously dental care is important to your overall health, esp your heart. Yes bad teeth can lead to heart issues.

Is it expensive, yes, dentist are golfers with a hobby.

I had neglected dental care for well over 25 years. Things finally started to catch up in 2013. Started with a molar that broke that I had a root canal and crown on. That failed after 7 months and had to be pulled.

Then nothing until 2018 when I had the worse tooth pain ever, made it to a different dentist, she said you need a root canal, no pull it, she did and good thing it was split in two to the roots. She said it would not have taken a root canal. I left with that tooth pulled and the area prepped for a bridge. That was december 2018, that started a course of dental visits that would last until Aug 2019.

When all was said and done, I had 2 bridges, zirconia since gold was too damn expensive, 8 fillings and a entire deep clean. Total cost was just over $12,000. My out of pocket with my insurance was $5000. Expensive yes but in all honesty I am so glad I had it it done, I have no more teeth pain. I never realized how much my mouth had hurt before.

Another dentist in town who would accept my insurance but out of network wanted $50,000 to do the same job LOL no thanks

My dental insurance costs me $19 a month. To me its worth it.

So go get those cleanings done twice per year.
