I was working in a refinery / chemical plant, south of Houston. We had a 700 acre reservoir for cooling water and fire suppression. Fantastic catfishing. A canal fed water to the reservoir.

An alligator was present in the canal and seen frequently. We called him Boudreaux. Nobody messed with him and he didn't bother us. He was around for about 4 years.

Word began to spread, asking if anybody had seen Boudreaux. He hadn't been see in 2 weeks.

Around noon, a guard making a trip around reservoir, seen Boudreaux. He was floating in the reservoir, about 200 yards off shore. He watched him for a while and then called Game Warden.

GW comes out, watches a bit and asked if there was a strong swimmer around?
The Safety man went to the contractor break area and asked for a strong swimmer. 2 volunteered. He took them to the GW.

GW told them to swim out and put a rope on Boudreaux.
1 spoke up, "Chingy tu madre" and walked off.

We were laughing and the 2nd guy took the rope and jumped in. We watched in amazement as he swam out and tied the the rope.

We pulled him in. 10' 8" 874#. Somebody had shot him with a .22 WRFM. GW gave the swimmer $100.
