The only bat with babies I've ever seen (in real life) was in the city Park in Madill, on the ground. Momma was on her belly, and the offspring were on her back (more than one IIRC?). Dunno if she just gave out and needed a rest, or what the deal was.
It was back in the '70s. I worked at the Madill Chevy dealer (engine mech), and Sweetie would often pick me up at lunch and we'd go to the park and eat our sandwiches. She had the kids this time, so it must have been during the summer when school was out. When we got through eating, the bat family was gone.
