3" 12 ga buckshot

Good luck following up after the first shot. Have you ever tried to fire multiple times with 3" buckshot?

Yes, with my SXS. I shoot 1 5/8oz #4 loads for late season pheasant. I can get two off pretty quickly for a double.

I've only run Federal 00 2.75" Max in my shotgun, but I have some 000 3" Magnum as well.
2.75s hurt a lot when I first shot them, but I had just a t-shirt on. Still put all 5 shells on target, though.

One of these days I'll bring the 3" shells to the range with me... they keep getting forgotten.

I bought a box of Federal 3" 00 Buck. I still have 2 unfired shells out of the box of 5.

Unless that was the only thing I had to feed the gun with. I would choose the more manageable load in 2 3/4".

Keep the 3 and 3.5 shells for knocking down big birds.

#4 loads are a completely different story.
