Capsules to make my own.
I watched a video of a cat using a sharpened case to punch out card wads. One wad over the powder and one over the shot....light crimp to hold it together. Since you're not loading in a revolver, no need to worry about recoil unseating the other rounds in the cylinder. Might work.
I have some .45 Colt shot loads that use gas checks but they become a projectile of their own. Good luck with your project.

Don't know if it would work in a .44, but have read about using .410 plastic wads (trimmed to length) in a .45 acp with a inverted gas check crimped on top to seal it.
Perhaps with a bit of cautious sanding the diameter could be reduced enough to fit in the .44 case

Anyone know of any? I’ve looked at pert near every website in the world and they all say not available. I want to make some .44-40 shot shells for an old H&R .410-.44 shotgun thatwas my grandmother’s.

The 44 cal. capsules work very well in the 44-40, however, great care must be taken so the cap does not come off inside the case. When seated, make sure the cap is in the neck rather than below the taper. This is not a problem when the cap sits on top of a black powder load.

Ed Harris used 3 in 1 blanks here: Chasing the 44-40 - Loading .44 Game Getter Shot from Starline 5 in 1 Blank cases

and revisited with this article about the GameGetter here: Chasing the 44-40 - Revisiting the “Game Getter”

I have .38 Speer shot shell capsules, and a crap ton of.22, .45 and .44 loaded ammo shot shells.
Love to tinker with them as well as shot shell 209 primers in pistol calibers with wax bullets.
Primer shortage has shut that down though.
I copied the 209 primer in a .223 a couple years ago to be used in an AR with a .22 pellet.
It will pass through a 2X4 at close range.
Posted a big report on it as well as pics on here if someone wants to search it.

I still have the one you made me. Works great
