When I lubed cast with Lee alox the bullets I shot did not need a crimp.. but i did run them through the Lee carbid crimp die.
If you have one of these dies you will know there is a carbide ring and then there is a crimp portion that is separate from the carbide ring.
I just ran my rounds through the carbide ring to iron out the case mouth flare.
My super Hot Blackhawk 45 colt loads never moved. My 30-30 cast loads never moved.

Pulling those bullets with an inertia puller SUCKED!
They were basically glued in..I gave up pulling the cast ones.

I also found the Harbor freight Red powder coat grabs onto the case walls like glue.. If you powder coat them.

I would shoot a few and check for bullet set back. If you have .002" interference fit and iron the flare out I bet they do not move.

Ogive of the bullet was too sharp is what I'm reading. Your going to a more pointed bullet?
Very much the converse I am afraid, the 500gr maintained width as a constant almost the entire way throughthe round, perfect for a 45-70, really poor for an AR based .458 SOCOM.

458bull.jpg Pic is after being Powder Coated with HF red..
