Either will serve you well. I carried a 4506, and was the last officer to give it up for the G22. At that time I still carried the 4566 as my off duty gun. I would trust my life to one!!!!

I have a RIA commander size 45. I shoot it more than my colt or custom 45's.
I just shoot it and put it back in the safe. I put 1200 to 1500 rounds a year through it. Reasonably accurate and reliable.

I love my 220. Other than a 1911, it's the most natural pointing pistol I've shot. It's more accurate than my dad's Series 70 Government Model and real close...if not as good...as his Trophy Match. I got mine as a CPO with night sights for $450.

The only difference between the two is the sights, and the trigger guard, all other parts interchange. Your not likely to break that gun either. I ran my issue 4506-1 at the P.O.S.T. level-3 handgun course(You fire roughly 200rnds a day for a week) and she didn't even break a sweat, while I saw alot of other guns their choke i.e. SIG's, Beretta's, and Glocks. Granted lots of it was poor maint. on the part of the other officers, and some of the guns had issues too. Every one else there who was shooting some type of 3rd gen S&W kept pace. Lots of folks like to bad mouth the 3rd gen guns, but I've staked my life on them and will continue to do so.
