6.5 Grendel barrel group buy

Put me in the maybe column. I need to learn more about the 6.5G to decide if it's right for me.

1Are the only non-5.56 parts the barrel, bolt, and magazine??
2Can a different follower be added to a 5.56 magazine to function in 6.5G??
3What bullet weights are ideal for this twist rate??
4Is the barrel dimpled for a gas block?


I highly recommend threading. It's much easier to get it now and cover it with a thread protector. You will want to suppress it.

2. No. You can stuff 6.5G rounds in a 5.56 mag; but it's not usually reliable.
3. All available ammo (90-130gr.) seems to work well. Around 120gr. seems to be ideal; but not always.
4. I don't think so; but I'm not 100% positive on that.

I'm the same way. I'd prefer a non threaded muzzle, but if the group buy barrel has a threaded muzzle, then I guess I'll just have to put a thread protector on it. Mine will be for hunting so I don't want a brake on it.

I have been looking at them but I want the 16" Barrel.

It's possible that AA may give us a discount even if we buy different barrels. I can definitely ask. They have a 16", 18", and 24" barrels for sale.

If they will give a break on multiple lengths I will take one of the 16" barrels. No bead blasting on mine either.

If your upper receiver port opening is on the tight end of SPEC you may have problems. If it is on the loose end of SPEC then it should be fine. Per the world wide web of misinformation.

Not sure, but a wild guess would be case width. No idea.
