I am thinking about complaining to Apple about how I was treated. I got the impression that he thought I was a few cards short of the deck.

They don't care. Apple Inc is focused on diversity and inclusion and virtue signaling. The staff reminds me of what one might see walking down to Fisherman's Wharf 20 years ago. Weird, but not necessarily dangerous.

This is on the Tulsa Apple web site:

Shop by walking in, reserving a one-on-one session with a Specialist or buy online and pickup in store.

Walk-ins are certainly accepted according to the above. But make an appointment just to be sure.

They do take walk-ins, but they're at the back of the line behind folks who made appointments. I had to take an iPad there for work a couple of weeks ago (someone had rather spectacularly shattered the screen on one); I had an appointment, but I saw several people who tried walking in. Most of them left when they heard how long the wait would be (at least I assume that's why they left; it's hard to hear squat in those acoustic nightmares they call malls, and I wasn't listening particularly closely to what they were saying).

My experience with Apple support has been pretty good. They replaced a phone when they didn't have to and have all kinds of ways to get support. On the web, phone, or Genius Bar appointment. They can also approve users for appointments at places like Best Buy if that is closer for you.
That has been my experience, too. They're pretty good, if you can get past the man buns and skinny jeans, they're just busier than a one-armed paper-hanger in a wind storm.

Maybe this just means that Apple products are just a problem? Our many years of Android products hasn't resulted in any problems at all that needed repair. Our biggest issue is that the wife likes her electronic toys, so she likes replacing them more often than I need to do.

I've owned an iPhone since the first model and have had to take one in one time. As an admitted Apple fanboy I enjoy using their products. I've tried several Android devices over the years as well and they have improved a lot. Not sure where you can get same day service on a malfunctioning Android device or an immediate replacement locally but maybe you can. My daughter is an Android user and she has had to return hers to Verizon for their insurance coverage. I'm not crazy about their wokeness either but Google is pretty woke too. As Tommy Lee Jones said in No Country For Old Men, "it all went to hell when you started seeing kids with green hair at the mall".

Sorry to read about you having this problem.....Maybe you have thought about carrying a notepad and communicating by writing? It might be considered as a workaround in certain situations. Hope you get some satisfaction in getting your phone fixed.

The only thing I’ve ever had to take my iPhones or iPads into the Apple Store to have addressed was one cracked screen, and I’m on my 6th iPhone (I had them as work phones for years). Usually I’m taking in a work device that has, umm, seen better days, and that’s actually surprisingly rare, considering how much use those things see.

As for the stores being busy, most of the people in there were shopping for new equipment, not getting things fixed, so no it doesn’t indicate that Apple equipment is just a problem.

At least an iPhone user isn’t voluntarily bending over for Google. “Yes, please, Google, it isn’t enough for you to stalk me like a crazy ex online, let me pay for you to go ahead and track me in the real world, too!”

I'm an apple geek, sorry but their stuff is superior and android is a garbage OS IMO, YMMV. I really don't let someone in skinny jeans bother me, but I've honestly only had to go to that store a few times. Outside of a cracked screens from my wife seemingly seeing how many times she can skip a phone across the parking lot, we've had no real issues with several phones, Ipads, and macbooks. Granted this isn't to say other hardware is junk, but the problem relayed by the OP was a service issue which seems to be on an individual and anecdotal basis. I'm not so sure about Apple being that "woke," maybe they are..... however.... I know they at least try to make it harder for people to access your info.

All that being said, the OP was treated horribly and the issue needs to be escalated IMO.

the guy they had manning the door told me that I had to make an appointment, and he should have been nicer about it. I think that he thought that I was mentally deficient (this is actually pretty common) due to my CP, speech, and balance issues, and I was treated like a child.

IN any event, the texting works now. I went down to Stillwater and my stepdaughter acted as my ears and we found the problem. My cell provider has an optional auto-payment feature where they charge my VISA every month and I recently had to change the card number. I assumed that the payments were still being made but they weren't so they cut my phone off. Anyway, it has been restored.

My hearing aid was recalled and I went into Enid yesterday to change it out and I told Kim, my audiologist about how I was treated, and she said that her son, who is deaf, is often treated the same way.
