ok, i just got my first ar and i dont know it all. im wondering if it possible to remove the front sights. im assuming you can do so and replace it with a gas block. im wanting to replace the sites with a block with rails so i can put a bi pod on it. and if the sights can be removed, how do i do it? thanks

if you're looking at the side of the front site, there's one small roll pin pretty close to the center and two larger pins toward the bottom. you can knock them out with a hammer and a punch. the larger ones may take a little persuasion.

...or you can just get a low-profile gas block and cover it with a mid-length (assuming yours is a carbine) or have yours ground down and then get a free floating quad rail or tube so that you're not mounting anything directly to the barrel (i.e. a bipod) and thus not affecting its accuracy as much.
