Hey All....

Bersa 380? Was feeding cattle and a buddy was riding in the truck with me. I had my Colt SAA 38-40 and a Colt 1911.

Buddy had a little Bersa 380.

Fed cattle, had a few beers while smoking a few "Habanos".

Set up the empty cans and bottle and proceeded to punch holes in them.

He let me shoot the Bersa and it wasn't that bad of a little shooter.

So..... Fill me in on the Bersa Thunder 380.

ALL of the pros and cons. He told me he paid around $270 for it new.

Coming from a Colt guy..is a Bersa worth a flip or something to toss in the pond?

My first handgun was a Bersa Thunder 380 CC (concealed carry).
I am a Bersa fan. They are well made Argentinian guns, patterned after the Walther PPK (at least the Thunder line is).
The only complaint I had was that my CC was on the large-ish side for a concealed carry gun, not outrageously so but bigger than one is now accustomed to seeing in a world of LC9s, Shield, NANOs, etc.

Pros: - Low Cost, reliable (in my experience), looks cool (to me); Lifetime Warranty (for original owner IIRC so that could be a CON too)

Cons - if repairs are needed I hear that turn around time can be long, magazines used to be difficult to find;
Thunder CC series has minimalist sights which facilitate snag free draw (+) from concealment BUT do make establishing sight alignment and sight picture more difficult (-)

To my mind, the Bersa Thunder is a greatly under-rated gun, largely because it doesn't have the correct lineage.
It is a solid, if not outstanding, competitor for the concealed carry/personal protection handgun market and deserves a close look by anyone seeking a handgun for those purposes.

I have had a Bersa UC 9mm and a Bersa Thunder 22 (pp/ppk clone) . Both were excellent pistols. Never any problems with either.
Checkout some youtube videos including hickok45. Magazines are pricey.

The only real complaints I've heard were from the "cheap guns are crap" crowd. I had one several years ago and never had any problems.

I have owned a few over the years. Nothing bad to say about the guns at all. On the flip side nothing really good to say either. They went bang every time and were relatively inexpensive. I would not hesitate to use one for CCW.

I'm merely echoing what everyone else has said,,,
Bersa makes a nice gun for a decent price.

I have owned a Bersa Thunder 22 and it's twin Thunder 380 for 8 years now,,,
I carried the 380 for several years and used the 22 for cheap practice.

I can't count how many college kids I have started off with the Bersa pistols,,,
The DA/SA action with exposed hammer makes it an ideal trainer.

Both of mine are the brushed nickel finish,,,
I haven't had any flaking at all for either pistol

Both guns have given me very fine performance for all of this time.

I also own a duo-tone Thunder Pro UC (ultra compact) in 9mm,,,
This is one of the best performing 9mm on the planet.

Here it is beside my full-size CZ-75B.

Completely ambidextrous controls so my lefty lady friend can shoot it,,,
It's similar to a CZ-RAMI in size but has a much more comfortable grip to it.

If you have a need or desire and the cash,,,
Get yourself one and enjoy shooting it.

Mine is fun little shooter and has been reliable. For CC, the only thing I do not like is taking the safety off during draw in the opposite direction from my 1911. I have wondered how that would work out for me after being used to the colt in a tight situation. I would think quite a bit of practice would be needed to make it natural for me to flip the opposite way.
