At the end of the day, the rankings are politics and opinions.

Create 4 national conferences of 16 teams each.
Only play conference games.
4 true conf. champions.
2 games, 2 winners and then a TRUE National Championship game. No opinion, no politics, done deal.

But that's the thing. . .haven't you seen the Big XII TeeVee Commercials? "Ten teams. . .nine games. . .one true champion"

So their advertising campaign touts round-robin play and one true champion (thus making a jab at conferences in which all the teams don't play each other). . .and yet we still are in this situation.

My use of "one true champion" was not just happenstance.

Well, maybe I'm the oddball, but I like the playoff idea, although I'd like to see it increased to 6 or 8 teams.

I hate Ohio state, but with what they did yesterday, they deserve to go.
