Nice but I thought you said BIG and I was thinking more of what GUN DOG ran.
Maybe you meant the 45-70 is a large round. :)

My buddy at the cam shop wants one of the Henry all weather guns in 45-70.
I have shot 300gr XTP from my 45acp

Nice what's the launch platform

Slightly customized Marlin 1895G. I call it a G/SBL.

Although I don’t have a 45-70 it’s just a nostalgic round with a tremendous amount of history behind it.

Exactly. Part of the appeal.

Makes my shoulder hurt just lookin at em.

Lol! We’ll see. These “should” be pretty mild loads.

Fun round to load and experiment with, lot's of options.

Yep. I’m looking forward to that. And they are very satisfying to load.

Yup when I had mine I had some 550 gas checked hammer heads in a no 1 Ruger loaded to the max

They’re the heaviest bullets I’ve ever loaded.

I do want to try out some 500+gr pills. I’m curious if the twist rate is sufficient to stabilize them at about 1000fps

Years ago I shot a buddies H&R 45-70 with I think they were 300gr maybe heavier bullets....it hurt and wasn’t pleasant, he also had a 10 gauge with 3 1/2” #4, shot at a duck directly above me with it....thought I was hit with a pile driver.
