You really have to visit the border to understand how we actually have no border. A lot of it in the Rio Grande Valley is nothing but a chain link fence just like you have in your backyard with portions of it pushed down a long time ago and not repaired. There is no barrier to stop illegal immigration and drug smuggling. In the Brownsville, Mcallen area, there are hundreds if not thousands daily that are just walking across with no restriction.
Build the wall, and Install the technology to detect tunnel digging. The congress is directly responsible for allocating the money to protect our borders and they refuse to do it at levels required to for strictly political reasons. Walls will funnel the drug traffickers and illegals to border crossing points where staffing is at higher levels.
Contrary to popular opinion, there is ZERO way to know how many drugs are being brought in away from the border check points through these chain link fences that are laying on the ground and not monitored by other than mounted patrols.
We can monitor what is caught at the border to get an idea and some numbers of what is coming across the border but in reality, how much goes undetected? We actually have no idea.
And Nancy Pelosi says there's no border problem, she didn't get down in the dirt with her show of Democrat dignitaries and her mind was already made up that there will be no wall. For crying out loud, can't the Democrats understand we have a problem and the potential will financially break the country?

If one wants a bit of an education on the border, check out YouTube. I've seen videos taken of the border that are on private land, and many of the ones I've seen it isn't even a chain link fence, but something like a 4-wire, barbed wire fence.
I've also seen some videos of illegals on trails where a group has put up trail cameras along known routes. In those there could be 20 or 30 at a time in a group, all of whom have backpacks. There has even been some videos of mules with drugs on their backs.

Only the supply across our borders can be haulted. As for the demand, it will always exist. Stopping the supply will at least put an end to a lot of the drug abuse and flow of cash illegally headed toward drug cartels; not to mention easing the burden upon We the People to deal with the whole debacle as it stands now.
