The whole income tax rate discussion misses the bigger issue. Do you want to live in a poor country or a wealthy country? We shouldnt demonize the wealthy for being wealthy. We should want everyone to be wealthy. A successful country is full of successful people. How do people and society become wealthy? Work and innovation. These should be encouraged. We have perversely demonized these however through income taxes, particularly progressive income taxes. Why are we discouraging labor via the tax code? Find a better way to pay for government than by discouraging the activity that you should be encouraging.

if everyone was wealthy taxes wouldnt really matter would it? If everyone owned a business who would work?

Theres really a balance between how many business can be sustained with a particular number of workers. Too many workers and not enough jobs spells high unemployment. Too many business' and not enough workers is just as bad for the economy.

Maybe because we pay them to be here? Just a long shot answer.

lol...well if we're already having to pay them to be here, what makes you think that jacking their taxes up to some 91% will make them want to stay here?

This! ^^^

Halliburton got fed up, flew the middle finger, packed up and went to Dubai. How much in tax revenue did that cost us?

You might be an idiot when it comes to the tax system.

No, he is right on, but dont let facts get it the way of your ad hominem attacks.

What makes you think business owners are not workers? I am a one man show equally endowed with the skills to clean the toilets, manufacture a product, and take care of the customers. Just not in that order, usually.

Too many business and not enough workers might mean being on welfare is living too extravagant. We will most likely not see this situation with the current giveme attitude prevalent in the rest of our lifetime. I say that because I know of two handicap people that have their subsistence deducted each month because they work too many hours and make too much money. They both do this knowing what is happening. They are proud that they have a job and produce something useful for other people. I highly respect them, working through and around their handicaps, doing what others walk away from, with a smile on their face. True Americans at heart. Take what you are given, and make the best of it for yourself.

Many business owners fit into this same category even when they have employees. Just because you have employees does not mean you have enough money to hire a janitor and can take off and play golf once a week. It is so amazing how people who have never owned a business, union or not can spout off how great it is to be a business owner and how easy they have it. They are only around 40 hours a week to see what is happening. What about the other 20-30 hours there or home trying to figure out how to make it work, doing paperwork, figuring out how to make it work the next day or week. What is that old saying about walking in someone else's shoes? How many employees out their unlock the door in the morning for the boss to walk in with them and lock the door after the boss walks out with them? Very, Very few.
