I'm headed to kan. in a week to grand kids birthday party, is there anything i need to pay particular attention to when there? I'm headed up to Manhattan, son stationed at Ft. Riley for the weekend. Thanks for any info.

I don't think you can get on any military base with a firearm, so if that was part of the trip, plan ahead.

Kansas has a few places you can not carry that are different then OK. Like places of worship.

Weapon Registration
All authorized privately owned firearms of military personnel assigned to, attached to, or temporarily stationed at Fort Riley, and those of their guests must be registered with the soldiers' unit commander before the firearm is brought onto the Fort Riley installation. The FR Form 102 (Registration Form) should be completed at the unit. Contact the unit arms room for more information.

well i contacted Ft. Riley, I guess i'll be leaving my gun at the house cause its way to much of a problem to bring it. My wife and i got into a argument about wanting to carry it. She asked why i wanted to carry so bad, I did the "why do you carry a spare tire in your car", and her reply was " well you cant carry it to the base where you work so you are used to it". So now i'm gonna carry my K-bar just to have something.

Being a native of that part of the world, if you go to Junction City, carrying is a good idea. And if you do go to J.C., check out my friend's indoor range - Godfrey's Ranges. Nice place, and right next door to Quantico Tactical.

Watch the Riley County (Manhattan) cops. They love to write tickets.

If at a hotel, bring a lockable gun safe, hang the do not disturb sign, and leave your smoke wagon in the room when you go on post.

We are staying in a hotel on base. I might not have my gatlin gun, buy being a old jarhead, the K-bar will be right handy.
