Central heat and air questions and advice

Hard to stop a Trane. We have one. At year five something in the outside unit for the a/c cratered. Called Hill and they came out the next day and fixed it under warranty. We oversized for our house to make it work less hard and for future expansion.

I just bought an American Standard per the ratings from CR. Their warranty is the best in the business on the guts, 12 yrs. Its HE rated at 16 seer. American Standard was the original Trane before Ingersoll Rand took over Trane. I R owns both companies and all units from both companies are made in the same TX plant. My first electric bill came last Friday. Its a 4 ton unit and the bill was 108 bucks total with the thermostat set at 73 24/7. Needless to say I was a happy camper. That is for a 1950 sq ft living space home.
