I give to a disabled vet. Vet. One. My neighbor is a Vietnam vet. He walks with a cane, has trouble breathing, and had a stroke about a year and a half ago. He lives solely on Social Security and gets his medicine from the V.A.
He doesn't ask for money or anything of the sort, and he wouldn't accept it, if I tried.
I bring him brownies & peanut butter fudge, when I make them. Every once in a while, I'll bring him by some bottled tea, powdered donuts, and various groceries. He never asks for it, and he's always very thankful.
I went behind his back & called in a favor to a heating & air contractor last year. They changed out his faulty old window unit for a new one. He was so thankful to them, that he cried. He still doesn't know who made the call.
The only favor he ever asks for is to run get him some chicken for dinner, and he always pays for it..when I let him.
This man served his country. He is the best of the best, in my eyes.
