??? They had a 30% bump in online sales since the release.
To provide a little color and perspective behind the reported increase:

Nike online sales grew 31% from the Sunday of Labor Day weekend through Tuesday, as compared with a 17% gain recorded for the same period of 2017.

The increase was probably related more to back to school shopping and the booming Trump economy than the ad campaign.

‘Monday Night Football’ Suffers Lowest Early Game Numbers in over a Decade
Dylan Gwinn 11 Sep 2018

According to Deadline Hollywood:

While at first glance the difference between this year and 2017 may seem small, it is important to remember that due to the chaos from Hurricane Irma last year not all markets reported in with early numbers. So, the results for the Minnesota Vikings’ 29-19 win over the New Orleans Saints and the Denver Broncos’ 24-21 victory over the LA Chargers were based on just 48 of the usual 56 markets that make up the first round of ratings. Meaning that the ratings decline for this year might be more in line with the overall sagging response the NFL and its various broadcasters have been receiving the past couple of years.

Careful what you post. Some apologist will be along to justify the low ratings and empty seats in the stadiums.

Well, guess what. The National Fools League has offered to put up millions of dollars to the teams local area minority charities. Some players are not in favor.
I browsed several sites including ESPN and other sports outlets, and there was not a consensus of the exact details as of yet of what he final deal was. Some said the nfl is contributing 90 million, and others said 100 million.
Then there was this site.
Owners will contribute $250,000 annually for local outreach in each team’s community, with the expectation that players will match that amount. Both owners and players can exceed that $500,000 total if they choose, and there are expected to be other fundraising opportunities, like auctioning game-worn jerseys or telethons.

Then there is this from ESPN:
In an unprecedented move for a major professional sports league, the NFL has proposed partnering with its players to effect social justice change, though not all players are in agreement on the proposal.

On Monday, the league submitted to players the final draft of a proposal that, according to documents reviewed by ESPN, would contribute nearly $100 million to causes considered important to African-American communities. The NFL hopes this effort will effectively end the peaceful-yet-controversial movement that former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernickstarted when he refused to stand for the national anthem last season.

So, ESPN is reporting that the National Fools League is going to buy off the protesters so they will stand to honor the flag and anthem. OR will they stand for the almighty dollar?

They had some HUGE online-exclusive releases of some very popular shoes that weekend/week (Air Vapormax, Zoom Fly, Pegasus Turbo, Jordan 12, some Lebron model, etc...). Probably more that than just back to school, but certainly it was tactically planned with the campaigns.

I'm not a sneakerhead, but being a runner who actually runs in Nike (the Pegasus work best for me... for the record they're only $110 and not $200+) I keep up with this. Say what you want about these being better, worse, or as good as $40 sneakers... there's people who like and buy these over cheaper ones.

Just like buying a Seekins over a Anderson, a P226 Navy over a Sigma, or a Browning over a Mossberg, a Wilson over a Rock Island...
