[The U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation yesterday that bans all welfare recipients from spending their benefits at strip clubs, liquor stores and casinos. This legislation came after lawmakers received reports of government assistance being used at night clubs, cruise ships, casinos and liquor stores. Lawmakers are hopeful this law will curb both fraud and abuse of government assistance.]

I can fix welfare for us.

1.Keep giving the benefits.
2.Offer free labor to businesses and government establishments (schools, ect.)
3.Make welfare recipients work X number of hours a week for their benefits.
4.Lazy ones will not apply.
5.Some will realize they can get paid better with a real job.

It's like community service, but instead of working off jail time, they are working off welfare money.
The community will be litter-free, the parks will be mowed and trimmed, ect.

This topic can get me on a soap box real quick, My wife likes to play bingo (with our money we earn) and 3 girls were standing in front of us one night talking about the welfare assistance they receive, One gets $900.00 a month for housing and another gets $1100.00 a month for just housing. And there they are in a bingo hall buying several "extra" games?? I just don't get it?

No system is ever perfect, but something needs to be done. I agree with the OP about banning use in certain places. I also agree with the post about drug testing.

Another idea that may work a little is that the card can NOT be used by anyone unless they are approved. Secondary ID from the same agency would be required and If a user is not listed in the cards program as "authorized", the card is flagged and canceled right then and there and will not be activated again till the legitimate user can explain why the cards use was attempted by an unauthorized person. That may slow down the "selling of the cards to others. It'll probably never happen, but just a thought.

But with synthetic urine, clean urine donors, detox drinks and shampoos easily available, it's just a waste of time and money.

hard_r's idea isn't half bad, but it'll never happen because all the hippies will scream "legalized slavery!".

Hippies...
You gave me a good ideal.
Biggsly's custom urine.
How does this sound? It is like winning the lotto when you buy a bottle.
