Even the best of guns sometimes fail. I carried 9 mil berreta as a secondary for years and I hate that pistol. It failed on me twice in Iraq. The 1911 is still a great gun. Swap it out

So was this discussed with the MFG? What was the result?
I called Springfield Wed. Their first question was, "Reloads?". Not wanting to be dishonest, I said yes. Everything sorta went downhill from there.
Get an aftermarket barrel and have it fitted to the gun, then post pics of the factory barrel and where it cracked on every forum you visit. Had the barrel bulged or cracked at the rear, sure. At the muzzle end? Reloads are not the problem. Springfield should make this right at no cost to you. If they don't, well, you'll know what they think of you as a customer.
